About Trust

Basantdevi Charitable Trust (BCT) registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 on 20-04-1991 vide Registration No. 3/91, headed by Shri Balakrishna Panda, who is the Founder-cum-Managing Trustee of the Trust. The trust (BCT) is dedicated to uplifting the underprivileged, particularly focusing on the tribal and underdeveloped KBK region of Odisha. Nationally recognized for its vocational training achievements in agriculture and biotechnology, the trust operates a network of accredited institutes where over 5000 students pursue engineering and science disciplines. Additionally, it has established several renowned research organizations in collaboration with industries in the agro and biofuel sectors.
BCT through its iconic representation of MITS Group, comprises flagship academic institutes, advanced research organizations, and industries, all overseen by the BCT Trust and various independent companies. It stands as a prominent entity in Odisha, leading in the advancement across academia, research, and industry. The Chairman-MITS Group, Sri. B.K. Panda leads its workforce of over 600 employees stationed across multiple offices. A respected figure in Odisha, hailing from humble beginnings, is renowned for his vision and social work. His focus lies in promoting Agro and Renewable energy industries, alongside establishing high-quality educational and research institutions. Establishment of R. G. Junior College at Padmapur.

Basanta Devi Vidyapeetha (M.E.School) established at Gudiabandha.

R. G. Degree College established at Padmapur.

1996

Launch of Basant Devi Charitable Hospital at Gudiabandha.

1997

Commencement of Majhighariani Institute of Technology & Science (MITS) at Bhujabal, Kolnara block of Rayagada district.

1998

Establishment of Institute of Building Technology & Research (IBTR) at Bhujabal.

2000

Initiation of Community School at Matikeswari, Kolnara block.

2001

Introduction of biotechnology division at MITS, Rayagada.

2002

Establishment of MITS Biotechnology Park adjacent to MITS.

2003

Commencement of MITS School of Biotechnology at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

2004

Launching of the ambitious "MITS Biodiesel Project, Odisha" in collaboration with D-1 Oils PLC, London (UK).

Receipt of Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award for best Technical education in Odisha.

2005

Establishment of 13 sub-centers for MITS Biodiesel project at various district headquarters in Odisha.

Receipt of Citizen Award for best biotechnology education Institute in eastern India.

2006

Signing of MOU with AVRDC, Geneva Italy for setting up of a center of excellence on pulse biotechnology.

2007

Launching of an Industrial Training Unit at Padmapur.

2008

Establishment of MITS Institute of Polytechnic, a diploma institute at Rayagada.

2009

Establishment of MITS School of Engineering, a diploma institute at Bhubaneswar, and an ITI at MITS campus Rayagada.

2009

Inception of MITS Innovation Research Center (MIRC), an international standard research center with supercomputer facility and incubation center promoting entrepreneurship.

2009

Launching of MIRC Agro Research division focusing on trial production of exotic fruits and vegetable varieties for export.

2011

Lead promoter on the SPV "MITS Mega Food Park Limited" with a minimum 51% stake. Currently holds 62% of the equity contribution.
